The final installment of the Cubs Blogger Roundtable is up at The Cub Reporter. I'll post the breadth of my answers here next week.
I want to thank all the participants for making this an enjoyable event, which I would be happy to contribute to next year.
Here are the highlights from Chapter 2: Section 2 of the Cubs Blogger Roundtable:
- At least one of the Cubs bloggers mourns over the lost opportunity to grow old with 1B Hee Seop Choi, but nary a blogger could be found who disagrees with trading him for 1B Derrek Lee.
- The questionnaire asked for two "lesser" transactions, and I came up with two. Most bloggers thought picking up RHP Latroy Hawkins went underappreciated, while I thought it filled too important a position for too high a salary to consider it a "lesser" transaction.
- I missed the CDC alert about mind-controlling parasites. On the suggestion of Sir Derek, I'll have to get my head examined.
- No matter how good the Cubs look, pessimism can always poke its head out like a gopher out of a hole in your meticulously-cared-for lawn... and I just want to whack it with a golf club! (Can you tell I was watching Caddyshack while writing this?)
Let's clear this up now. The Cubs are going to be good. Really, frickin' good! So start getting used to the fact now, so you can deal with it when it's August and the Cubs are 10 games up on the pathetic Houston Astros and competitively-useless St. Louis Cardinals.
